Renovations Sector in WA is Healthy and Growing

The realty sector might be up and down in WA and other parts of Australia, but the renovations sector in WA is looking healthier with three consecutive quarters of growth this year.

The recovery in the renovations sector includes signs of growth in major alterations and additions, which includes structural extensions, an important component of the overall housing industry.

With renovations forecasted to rise, we’ve put together the three top renovating mistakes and how to avoid them;

1.      Decide what is most important
The first thing to decide is which element in the room should be the most important; the floors, walls or the furniture. Ensure that only one finish screams “look at me, look at me”.

2.      Layering colour turns your house into a home
If you pick an accent colour, like a yellow chair for example, you need to have gradations of that colour repeated at least three times in the room for it to work. In other words, a smaller yellow in the form of a vase or cushion and a bigger yellow, such as a rug or picture fram, are necessary for the room to come together, as in the image above.

3.      Moving forward in design
For instance, if you need a new rug in your living room and know that your floral sofas will eventually be replaced, choose something that works with your existing and possible new furniture. Introducing a chocolate brown ottoman into a dated living room with nothing existing in brown, will simply highlight the fact that the ottoman is current and the rest of your furniture is ‘yesterday’.

The number one trick in decorating successfully is to make each decision considering the entire room as a whole, not each part individually.
